The Aaron R. Moore Sailing Scholarship Fund

The Ephraim Yacht Club’s Aaron R. Moore Sailing Scholarship Fund is the beneficiary of the Derby de Mayo Scholarship Fundraiser to be held at the Lake Forest Club on May 5. The scholarship fund was established in 2013 with the mission of providing sailing instruction to children who demonstrate an interest in learning to sail and who would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate without financial help.

The Ephraim Yacht Club, founded in 1906, is a not-for-profit-, 501(c)(3) charity that promotes sailing education and sailing competition in a casual, inclusive atmosphere. The EYC’s sailing school is one of the largest in the Midwest. It is a community sailing center with the mission of teaching sailing as a lifelong sport. In the past five years the Aaron R. Moore Sailing Scholarship Fund has provided over 200 scholarships to deserving boys and girls, giving them the opportunity to learn and participate in this great sport.

The Fund memorializes Aaron R. Moore who grew up in Lake Forest and passed away in 2008. Aaron was a lifelong sailor and an enthusiastic instructor for Lake Forest Sailing.
